Infrastructure monitoring confirms that services and jobs are running. It does not check the delivered content: a valid STAC item can point to a missing asset, and HTTP 200 can carry an empty map tile.
Conventional monitoring
SPHEROID
Checks that services and jobs are running.
Works alongside existing checks, without replacing them.
Does not necessarily check the delivered content.
Checks spatial and quality requirements of each evaluated delivery.
Metrics, logs and alerts.
Verification results, measurements and evidence.
Verification in practice
Example 01
A maritime EO service delivers a daily sea surface temperature product for route planning, with a new field expected every day.
Files delivered successfully, on time and within range. Every static check passed.
Temperature values remained unchanged across seven successive deliveries, flagged against the service's own history.
A potential data-quality issue was flagged for investigation, with supporting evidence.
Example 02
A SAR map service publishes a time series through WMS, with the available dates listed in its capabilities document.
Every request answered with HTTP 200, and the capabilities document was valid.
One of the four advertised dates came back empty, and the newest date was 520 hours old against a limit of 6.
The service was marked NO-GO, with each empty date and the age of the newest one recorded.
Platform capabilities
Requirements catch what you knew to look for. History catches the rest. SPHEROID builds a baseline from each service's own deliveries (update cadence, value ranges, extent, size) and flags a delivery that departs from it, even when every requirement passes.
Deterministic by design. Each indication comes from a defined rule on recorded history, with no model or score, and can be reproduced from the stored measurements. Indications guide the investigation and never change a verdict.
Evaluate mandatory requirements over a time window and produce traceable GO / NO-GO service verdicts. Each check returns PASS, FAIL or NOT ASSESSABLE.
Preserve measurements, thresholds and results for investigations, acceptance reviews and SLA reporting. Standards coverage is reported, never as a certification.
A read-only SPHEROID agent runs next to the services it checks, on Kubernetes or a standalone host. It sends verification results and metadata to the SPHEROID platform, deployed in the operator's environment.

Operate SPHEROID within your environment or engage ScaleApp for managed quality and SLA assurance. Both start with a technical evaluation on the services you select.
